Reticle Workshop Help

How To Begin
You may begin by using one of the four pre-created base reticles we’ve included in the Reticle Workshop or begin with a plain canvas (Blank). The four pre-created reticles are available under Properties in a drop down menu on the right side of the screen. (See Figure A. below.)

Figure A

Simply select one of the four reticles, called Background Images, and it will appear in the canvas area in the center. Then, using the tools located on the left, begin creating your custom-made reticle. A brief description of the Tool Bar is provided below.

Tool Bar

This is the Selection Tool. Use it to make object or copy active in the reticle you are creating.

Use this tool to draw straight lines.

Use this to draw rectangles or squares with rounded corners. When this tool is selected, an additional item appears under the Properties menu located on the right (it will be at the very bottom). Using the Roundness function, you may dictate the curve of the corners.

Bezier anchor tool. Use this to create unclosed boxes or lines.

Use this tool to cut/delete an active item (box, copy or line) from your reticle.

Center tool. Use this to center objects in the middle of your reticle.

Use this to add squares or rectangles to your reticle.

Use this tool to add circles or ellipses to the reticle.

Use this tool to add text to your reticle.

Use this tool to remove ALL objects in your reticle. WARNING, when you click on this icon, all of the objects in the reticle will be removed.

This is the Save Reticle to Disk icon. When you click on this icon, you’ll be prompted through the steps needed to save your reticle to your computer’s hard drive.

Use this tool to center objects vertically.

Use this tool to center objects horizontally.

Property Menu
Below are the items, and a description of their function, of what appears under the Property Menu located to the right of the Reticle Workshop canvas.

Background Image: This is where you select a blank background or chose one of four pre-created reticles. Features in the background images can not be changed, the background images are provided as a starting place for your convenience.

Border Color: This is where you set the line color of an object with a border, such as a square or something created with the Bezier tool. This option appears only when the Rectangle/Square, Circle/Ellipse or Bezier tools are in use or an objected created with one of those tools is selected.

Border Thickness: This is where you set the width of the line of an object with a border, such as a square or something created with the Bezier tool. This option appears only when the Rectangle/Square, Circle/Ellipse or Bezier tools are in use or an object created with one of those tools is selected.

Fill Color: This is where you set the inside color of an object with a border, such as a square or something created with the Bezier tool. This option appears only when the Rectangle/Square, Circle/Ellipse or Bezier tools are in use or an object created with one of those tools is selected.

Fill Style: If you select Transparent from the drop down menu, a square, rectangle, circle or an object drawn with the Bezier tool will be empty—meaning you can’t apply a fill color. If you select Opaque, you’ll be able to add a fill color using the Fill Color drop down menu item.

Figure D

To add text to your reticle, please do the following:

1. Using the Text Tool, type in the text you’d like to add to your reticle.
2. If necessary, using the Selection Tool, grab one of the corner bars and drag the text area larger if all of your copy isn’t appearing.
3. If you’d like to make your text larger or a different color, double click on the text with your Selection Tool.
4. If all of the text is not highlighted, go under your Edit Menu on your computer and choose Select All.
5. Then in the Reticle Workshop go to the Menu on the right and change your text size and hit your Return or Enter Key.
6. To change the text color, highlight the text the same way you did to change its size. Then, click on the Text color menu item to the right. A color palette will appear; pick the color you’d like from that palette. The changes should occur immediately; you shouldn’t have to hit the return key on your computer.

Saving Your Reticle
When your reticle is complete, click on the Download tool located to the left of the canvas to save the reticle to your computer. Follow the instructions and be sure and note where the file is saved.

Once the file has downloaded to your computer’s hard drive, you may want to name it in such a way as to remember its purpose, such as snow_background_ret.bmp, and put it someplace safe.

When you’re ready to copy the reticle to your DigitalHunter riflescope, you’ll need to rename the file either:
Reticle1.bmp
Reticle2.bmp
Reticle3.bmp
Reticle4.bmp

The DigitalHunter riflescope will only see reticles with those filenames.

Sharing Reticles
If you’d like to share your reticle with other DigitalHunter owners, please click on the Upload Reticle button at the bottom of this page and follow the instructions. To view reticles other owners have created, click on the Reticle Library button at the bottom of the page and browse through our online library for the reticles you’d like to download and test on your DigitalHunter riflescope.

NOTE: If you experience technical problems with the Reticle Workshop, please contact help@vic.com and we’ll respond within one business day whenever possible.
